Andy Clay

Andy is being escorted today by his parents, Jim and Roxann Clay.  He has been our PA Announcer for Baseball all 4 years in High School.  He was also our Announcer for Boys and Girls Basketball.  He is also in the Marching and Jazz Bands.  Andy would like to thank his family and friends for all their support.  Andy plans to attend Penn State with a major in Communications.

 

Sunny Kaneria

Sunny is being escorted today by Manager Clay McAllister.  He is the son of Niru and Ramesh Kaneria.  His hobbies include science movies, cars and playing Cricket.  He is also involved with the canned food drive and Pennies for Life.  Sunny would like to thank Coach CMAC, Coach Hancock, Coach Altieri and all his teammates.  Special thanks also go to Coach Shirley and his parents.  Sunny plans to attend Penn State to major in Biomedical Engineering and play Baseball.

 

Dan Knapp

Dan is escorted today by his parents, Mike and Ruth Knapp.  His hobbies include hanging out with friends, watching movies and playing video games.  Dan would like to thank his parents, his girlfriend, CMAC, Hartee and Sandy.  He would also like to thank the fellow seniors.  Dan plans to attend Lock Haven University and hopes to play Baseball.

 

Graydon Turner

Graydon is escorted today by his parents, John and Lois Turner.  His hobbies include running, working out, hanging out with friends, playing pool and playing baseball.  Graydon wishes to thank the Seniors of 2006, his brother Spencer, all his teammates, Coaches McAllister, Hancock, Altieri, Sassaman, Strickler, Stum and Erney.  He also thanks Hartman, the Seniors of 2007, his parents and Coach Shirley.  Graydon plans to attend Shippensburg University to major in Management Information Systems.

 

Gino Wise

Gino is escorted by his parents James and Sun Wise.  His hobbies include bowling, watching movies and hanging out with his friends.  Gino wishes to thank his mom and dad, all his friends and the coaches.  Gino plans to attend Dundalk College to major in Accounting and play Baseball. 

 

Kyle Wolf

Kyle is escorted by his parents Steve and Charlene Wolf.  His hobbies include guitar, drums and basically any competitive contest.  He is also involved with National Honor Society and the Art, German and Latin National Honor Societies.  Kyle wishes to thank all the coaches, booster club, his parents and anyone to supported the team.  Kyle plans to attend Virginia Tech to major in Architecture and play anything that does not require a right shoulder. 

 

Logan Zugay

Logan is escorted today by his mother Janet and brother Adam.  His hobbies include anything sports related especially Penn State Football, observing wildlife and cracking jokes with the team.  He was also on the Basketball Team and Volunteers his time with the Special Needs Class at MASH.  Logan would like to thank God, his mom, brother, CMAC, Altieri, Hancock and Sassaman.  He would also like to thank all the fans.  Logan plans to attend Penn State to major in Bio-Psychology or Wildlife Biology.  He plans to play intramural Baseball or Basketball. 

 

 

We thank you all for your hard work and dedication and for everything you have done during your years at Mechanicsburg.  All of us wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and don’t forget to come back and see a game or two.  Ladies and gentleman, the Mechanicsburg Area Senior High Baseball Class of 2007.

BISHOP McDEVITT 8, MECHANICSBURG 6

'Cats fall to McD 8-6, while the JVs fall

Mike Comasco plated four runs and pocketed the win in Bishop McDevitt's 8-6 triumph over Mechanicsburg. Comasco allowed just two hits and shared seven RBIs with Taylor Wheaton (2-for-3). Tom Mitchell and Nick Barbera added two hits each for the Crusaders. Mechanicsburg standout Greg Bretz (two hits) slugged a sixth-inning homer.

 

In the JV game, it was not the 'Cats day as they had 7 errors and fell 11-1 to the Crusaders.


HERSHEY 3, MECHANICSBURG 2

Varsity JV drop tough ones to Hershey

From the Patriot News.....

Joe Conway's solo shot in the top of the seventh granted Hershey a rousing 3-2 clip over Mechanicsburg. Complete-game winner J.R. Reeser struck out nine against six hits to outduel Wildcats' ace Mike Hellam. The latter was touched for a single earned run, scattering five hits.

In the JV contest, the 'Cats battled the undefeated Trojans but fell  5-3.  Jake Burkholder threw 6 six solid innings and had two hits.


MECHANICSBURG 13, GETTYSBURG 11

Varsity 9 wins slugfest, while JV's lose a tough one

From the Patriot News.....

Four RBIs from Sam Burkholder and a Greg Bretz two-run blast ignited Mechanicsburg's wild 13-11 decision over Gettysburg. Short-work winner Graydon Turner also benefited from Dan Knapp's two RBIs and four Warriors' errors. D.J. Cool was 3-for-4 in the loss.

 

The JV's fell 5-4 as the Warriors won dramatically in the bottom of the 7th.  Leading 4-1 after the first, the 'Cats bats fell silent & could only manage two more hits the rest of the way.  Perry Mattern threw six solid innings and Danny Farinelli had 2 hits.

In the fist game on the Island, the JV's fell to the Colts  9-4.  Ryan Mentzer had a bases loaded double.  Mike Poplaski and Adam Olson also had two hits.

PALMYRA 8, MECHANICSBURG 4

Big 1st dooms varsity the JV's roll on

A five-run first inning fueled Palmyra past Mechanicsburg 8-4. Nate Shearer capped that pivotal bottom of the first with a grand slam. The Wildcats clawed back to within 5-4 in the top of the fifth, but the Cougars answered with a pair in the bottom of the frame. Tom Davis chipped in a pair of hits and scored twice for Palmyra. Greg Bretz and Gino Wise each had two hits for Mechanicsburg.

In JV Action, Cole Wolfe threw a complete game 1 hitter with 3 K’s as the 'Cats Win 11-0.    Devon Hensel, Danny Farinelli, and Ryan Mentzer all had two hits each.

MECHANICSBURG 7, MIDDLETOWN 1

Knapp fires a gem, JV's win again 

From the Patriot News.....

In Middletown, Dan Knapp spun a two-hitter with five strikeouts, sealing Mechanicsburg's 7-1 margin over the Blue Raiders. Eric Wolf (3-for-3) belted a two-run homer to push the Wildcats' lead to 5-0 in the third. Gino Wise also chipped in three hits for Mechanicsburg.

 

The JV's survived some shaky fielding & then scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take an 8-3 lead.  Mike Poplaski had a two run single in the inning.  Perry Mattern pitched 5 2/3 strong innings in a no decision.  Cole Wolfe threw the final 1 1/3 inning to get the win.  Noah Michaliszyn added 2 hits.

TOWNSHIP 11, MECHANICSBURG 0

JV's win in 9 while the Varsity falls hard to the Tribe

In varsity action, freshman pitcher Evan Phillips allowed three hits and Jake Warshawsky chased home four runs as Susquehanna Twp. tripped Mechanicsburg 11-0.   Matt Chiampi took the loss for the 'Cats.

Ryan Mentzer had a big game for the JV's throwing 5 2/3 of 3 hit baseball to help lkead the 'Cats to a 5-2 win.  He also hit a 2-run double in the top of the ninth and Mike Poplaski followed with an RBI triple.  Russell Woleslagle threw 3 1/3 innings of relief for the win.  


LOWER DAUPHIN 8, MECHANICSBURG 0

Varsity 'Cats shutout while the JV's win again

Jim Miller spun five strong innings and Dillon Talley scorched three hits, including a round-tripper, to push Lower Dauphin past Mechanicsburg 7-0. Miller, afforded some breathing room behind Jesse Savage's bases-clearing triple, scattered just two hits. Wildcats starter Mike Hellam, who walked eight, took the loss.

The JV's won on the road 9-4.  Matt Koveleski picked up the win while Noah Michaliszyn and Danny Farinelli had big hits to help the pull out the victory.

Varsity 'Cats drop two over the weekend, JV's sweep

The varsity baseball team lost two games over the weekend falling to Bishop McDevitt 8-5 of Friday & then falling to Carlisle 9-1 on Saturday.  More information coming soon as well as some photo's.  


The JV's earned a sweep of  the two games, beating McD12-4 and then hitting their way past the Thundering Herd 13-3.     

 

Both teams are back in action Monday vs LD.

'Cats fall to to Trojans

Pitcher A.J. Janeczek allowed 10 hits and chipped in a two-run triple to headline Hershey's 7-5 triumph over Mechanicsburg. Andy Laudermilch and J.R. Reeser (two RBIs) had two hits in Hershey's sixth win. ...  while the JV's fall hard 11-2.

Varsity needs 11 innings to stop the Warriors while the JV'ers hit their way to 9-2 win

Mechanicsburg needed 11 innings to drop host Gettysburg 5-3. Mike Hellam's hot chop to second plated two runners in the 11th as game-winner Geno Wise paced the Wildcats with four hits. Dan Knapp fanned eight in a no-decision.

Keying Mechanicsburg's level start to this high school baseball season, pitcher Dan Knapp struck out nine through six blue-collar innings yesterday at Shirley-Rickenbach Field.

 

Knapp's performance, coupled with a pair of Ben Anderson hits, steered the Wildcats to a 4-1 Mid-Penn crossover win over Red Land. Knapp added two hits to stop Patriots ace Drew Rentzel. Adam Hegedus went 2-for-3 in the loss....

'Cats drop opener to Buckskins 6-2

From the Patriot News....

Conestoga Valley tripped Mechanicsburg 6-2 as Joe Russo and Adam Glick combined for seven Buckskins hits. Wildcats starter Mike Hellam, allowing 10 hits and five runs, took the loss.


From the Sentinel...

Joe Russo and Adam Glick did a lot of damage to the Mechanicsburg baseball team on Monday.

Both collected a double and home run to lead Conestoga Valley to a 6-2 win over the Wildcats. Russo went 3-for-4 and Glick went 4-for-4 to pace the Buckskins.

Mechanicsburg was led offensively by Gino Wise and Sam Burkholder, who each collected doubles.

Conestoga Valley jumped on top of the Wildcats 5-0 before Mechanicsburg, which hosts Red Land today at 4 p.m., answered with a run the fifth and seventh innings.

Gettysburg Have to settle in quickly and finish games. 8. Middletown Improved, but Raiders still missing key elements.


Carolina Trip Shortened  

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had different plans for our annual trip south to work out this spring.  AS the snow fell in M-burg 3.5 inches of rain fell on the the Durham NC area causing us to come home a day early.   Special Thanks goes to Rock Perry at the Burlington Batting Center in Burlington, NC and to the Hall of Fame Batting Center in Cary, NC for the use of their facilities as the rain just kept coming.  We returned to M-burg safe & sound!   A few pictures coming soon!


1st Practice set for Monday!

The 1st practice of the 2007 baseball season is set for Monday, March 5, 2007.  

Remember: Hair neatly trimmed & no shorts! 


MASH Baseball Holds the 1st of two clinics for Little Leaguers 

February 4, 2007:  MASH Baseball held its first of two clinics yesterday for kids ages 6-9 at MASH.  24 campers were treated  with instructions on fielding, hitting, pitching, outfield play, and sliding.  All in all, both the campers & the instructors had a great time.  See you next for the 9-12 year olds.
