Varsity
Baseball 1933
M.H.S.
Places Second in Baseball League
Mechanicsburg
enjoyed a great football season and, with the season not quite
completed, the baseball team seemed headed for a successful year.
With four games yet to be played, Mechanicsburg had hung up
seven victories against three defeats, for the healthy percentage
of .700 - which is plenty good.
New
Bloomfield
and Camp Hill were defeated twice, while Enola turned the trick
with a twin triumph over us.
Middletown
was the other victorious rival, while Mercersburg, New Cumberland,
and Boiling Springs found the going too tough and bowed in defeat.
This record places Mechanicsburg in second place in the
West Shore League, on the heels of Enola, which team is setting a
fast pace.
Mechanicsburg and her opponents have staged quite a few
slugfests, as scores such as 11-8, 19-5, 10-5 and 15-5 indicate.
Our pitchers have applied the whitewash twice, while the
best performance against us limited M.H.S. to four runs.
The narrowest margin separating Mechanicsburg and its
opponent has been one run, while the widest gap was 21 runs.
